butt. Sadly, when you're shedding fat, you don't get to keep what you want and
send the rest packing, says Michele S. Olson, PhD, a professor of exercise
science at Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama. The good news is that even
if you're losing inches from your chest, you can keep it looking lifted by
adding regular strength moves into your routine.
Olson suggests the following exercises: push-ups, planks,
bench presses, and Dumbbell Flyes
Push-Ups
A conditioning exercise performed in a prone position by
raising and lowering the body with the straightening and bending of the arms
while keeping the back straight and supporting the body on the hands and toes.
Planks
The plank (also called a front hold, hover, or abdominal
bridge) is an isometric core strength exercise that involves maintaining a
difficult position for extended periods of time. The most common plank is the
front plank which is held in a push-up position with the body's weight borne on
forearms, elbows, and toes.
A bodybuilding and weightlifting exercise in which a lifter
lies on a bench with feet on the floor and raises a weight with both arms.
Bench Presses
The bench press is an upper body strength training exercise
that consists of pressing a weight upwards from a supine position.
Dumbbell Flyes
The dumbbell fly is an exercise used to stimulate the
pectoral muscles in the chest. It is performed by holding dumbbells (one in
each hand), lying back on a bench or flat surface, and using the pectoral and
deltoid muscles to adduct the weights inwards.
